Redwood Clearing
Trail Thoughts and Musings
The path now skirts a small clearing. Where redwoods thrive, they have a tendency to choke out other trees, because their height allows them to capture most of the sunlight. However, when one of these giants topples, it allows other species to compete with more success. The gracefully curving tree in the foreground is a madrone that has been able to establish itself.
