Having surmounted the greatest obstacle, the trail now meanders over hard sandstone, through an elfin forest of Knobcone pine trees. The grade is gentle, and on a mild sunny day this can be a very idyllic stroll. However, this is no place to be if there is any chance of thunder storms. Even on clear days, the wind can become quite blustery.
