Trail Thoughts and Musings

The ascent finally reaches the summit of the second ridge. As the trail levels out one can take a well deserved rest and observe the surroundings. The redwoods still predominate and here three large specimens stand guard over the hiker. The nearest one is a superb example of old growth redwood. It is fortunate indeed that it was spared by the loggers.
