Following close by the creek the trail provides several vantage points for viewing the falls before it angles down the cliff. As you descend, ever changing aspects of the falls are presented to the hiker. Over the years, several large trees have fallen across this part of the trail and maintenance is an ongoing process. One year a very large redwood toppled and blocked the trail both above and below the switchback. Its presence is still felt. An observation deck has been constructed below the falls. This is an excellent place to rest before making the hike back to where you started. It is from the deck that this picture of Berry Creek Falls was taken.
