The trail continues its ascent towards middle ridge. As it approaches the crossing of Deer creek, it levels out and allows one to catch their breath. A bridge has been built to allow an easy crossing. This is the headwaters of the creek so the flow is gentle. Ferns and other water loving plants abound here. An old trail can be seen by the bridge that allows a short diversion down the canyon.
