About half way up the trail, a small side canyon is reached. A foot bridge is provided for the crossing, but for most of the year the small stream is dry. It is after the winter rains have arrived that this section of the trail comes to life. Here can be seen a tiny rivulet dashing down the hillside framed by a large green fern.
