Here the trail is lined with giant sequoia trees like some immense honor guard. It is hard not to feel humble and awed at the same time. Some of these trees are more than a 1000 years old. They were mature trees when Columbus set sail. It is a fitting end to this hike, for once you round the bend of the trail you will see the sign from which you started.
