A breathtaking vista has been unfolding behind the unsuspecting hiker as the trail has climbed the bare rock escarpment while following the many cascades of the Kings River. Once this large ledge is reached, it is time to turn around and enjoy this breathtaking view. The strangely shaped peak named the Sphinx predominates at an altitude of 9146 feet (2788m).
