After about two tenths of a mile of steep climbing, the trail crests and the junction with Manzanita trail is reached. Although this route also leads to the top of St. Joseph's hill, we will continue on Novitiate and use Manzanita for our loop return. Our route now takes on a gentler face and provides us with a fairly level stroll alongside the grass and oak trees.
