Hikers and mountain bikes. Dogs allowed on leash. No horses allowed. No wheelchair facilities.

Subjective Trail Rating for Beauty and Difficulty:

This 2.7 mile trail climbs 600 feet to reach the top of St. Joseph's Hill. Although this makes its difficulty factor moderate, it is mitigated by the fact that the worst of the climb takes place in the first quarter of a mile. Most hikers in good health can complete this trek. Views of both the Santa Clara valley and the Santa Cruz mountains can be seen from the short but spectacular hike. If taken in the spring when the lake level is high, the sights that can be seen are breathtaking.

No permits are required. Parking and access are free.

Directions:

Lexington Reservoir County Park is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains above the town of Los Gatos. The reservoir and park are accessible from State Highway 17. From Santa Clara Valley, take the Bear Creek Road exit and proceed over the overpass and re-enter Highway 17 north. Take the Alma Bridge Road exit. From Santa Cruz, take the Alma Bridge Road exit. Follow Alma Bridge Road to cross the dam and park at the boat launch area.
