The Mountain That Isn't There
Trail Thoughts and Musings
A small side trail will lead to a stunning overlook of where the once mighty Tehama Volcano stood. A sign shows this ghost Volcano superimposed over the existing landscape. Mt. Tehama was a stratovolcano much like Mt. Shasta is and was built by intermittent activity between 650,000 and 400,000 years ago. Brokeoff Mountain and Mt. Diller are remnants of this now vanished volcano.
