Beginning the Ascent

After meandering along the valley formed by Hatchet creek, the trail begins its ascent back to the parking area. It soon passes through another area that was left to natural reforestation. Once again, it is the brush and grass that first takes control of the land. A single ghost like remnant of the old forest points towards the intense blue sky.
