Easter Cones?

The trail ends in this meadow by Highway 9, It is surrounded by various varieties of trees. Growing by the fence is a good sized, but not spectacular fir tree. It was April, and not only was new growth everywhere, but Easter was approaching. To my surprise, upon closer examination, this fir was covered with purple pine cones. I am sure this is normal for this species, but still I wonder.....Does the Easter Bunny do pine cones?
