Information about Summit Meadows
Summit Meadows - Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail loop is not in any one park. The Summit Meadows Trail lies on the edge of Castle Rock State Park. Its maintenance is most likely handled by the State Park, but I have not been able to verify this. The return portion of this loop is via the Skyline-to-the-Sea trail. As near as I can determine, this portion of the trail lies on Midpeninsula Regional Open Space Preserve Land.
Since this hike stretches through both State Park and Open Space Preserve Land, I have classified it in the "Private, City, and Other" Category. To learn more about the history Castle Rock State Park please see Castle Rock in CyberHikes. Visiting Long Ridge will provide more information on the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space Preserve.
This hike is not well known and will provide spectacular view of the Santa Cruz Mountains. If taken in the spring, a riotous growth of wildflowers will add to the enjoyment of the hike. This is one of my favorite spring hikes.
