The Watchtower

Trail Thoughts and Musings

At about the halfway point in the hike you will get your first views of the majestic Watchtower formation. It lies on the other side of the river and is a sheer face of granite that juts out from the canyon wall. It soars 1600 feet above the Marble Fork of the Kaweah. It is a legacy from the period of glaciation when the valley floor was buried with 500 feet of moving ice.
