The trail, which first headed south and then east, now turns north to follow along the paved road that leads to the campgrounds in the Shadowbrook area. It is also possible to drive up the road to Sempervirens Falls, but who would spoil a perfectly good hike by doing that? Moss grows everywhere indicating just how wet the micro climate is in Big Basin.
