Many of the redwood groves act as memorials to families who have contributed to the park. In fact, the signs indicating these memorials have become pandemic in Big Basin. This impressive grove is one of these, as can be seen by the small sign in the background. The trail ascends after this point and then drops back down to the road by the falls. The road can be taken instead if one has become tired.
