The trail now levels out for a while and a small clearing is reached. Downed trees lie on the ground in jumbled profusion. It is as if a group of giant children had been playing pick-up-sticks and were called home without putting away their toys. It is not possible to determine when the trees were downed but they look as if they have been here for at least several years.
