The first section along the Saratoga Gap trail is an easy traverse that contours along the oak filled slopes of the Santa Cruz mountains. It is a gentle journey through meadow grass and tight clusters of oak and madrone trees. In the summer this can be a hot hike and in winter the trail might be pelted with rain.
