The Tree That Isn't There

Trail Thoughts and Musings

The large Tanbark Oak tree growing in the path was once one of the points of interest on this self guided trail. Unfortunately, it was one of the many victims of the El Niņo rains of 1998. It does have a smaller sibling nearby which will perhaps take its place. These trees were used in natural tanning of leather. Botanists now think they are a link between oaks and the chestnut tree.
