First View of the Sphinx
Trail Thoughts and Musings
This first portion of the hike to Mist Falls can be dry and dusty as it passes over sandy soil. The incense cedar trees, however, favor this type of soil and are the predominant species. They are widely spaced and along with the sparse understory combine to give a park like appearance. The walls of the canyon begin to close in giving a cathedral like atmosphere to the park.
