The weather on the ridge can be as ephemeral as a will-o'-the-wisp. Fog and rain can roll in from the ocean at anytime. When it does, the scene changes to a more somber and reflective mood. Gone are the sweeping vistas to be replaced with spectral trees looming in the ghostly fog. Then, in an hour or two, it can clear and the sun reappears.
