Granite Steps to the Clouds

Trail Thoughts and Musings

In order to reach the top of the falls, steps had to be carved in the canyon wall. The mist has now changed into a continuous rainstorm. Water is constantly flowing over the granite which makes the ascent even more hazardous. The spray is so heavy that for hikers with glasses (like myself) it is almost impossible to see much further than a few steps ahead. The roar of the falling water makes conversation difficult at best.
